Sacrament of Reconciliation News

We thank our parents and families for attending the Reconciliation Presentation Masses last weekend. There was a lovely community feel at these Masses and a strong sense of connection between the schools. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Yvette, Simone and Peta for hosting the Reconciliation home groups.- we simply couldn’t have done it without you!

Year 3 students will attend a retreat day at Holy Trinity this Friday to support the Parish First Reconciliation program. All Year 3 students will need to be dropped off at Holy Trinity by 9am on Friday (supervision will be available from 8:30am). Students will need to bring their own recess and lunch, a hat and water bottle. They can wear free clothes to this day.

Gospel Reflection

Jn 12:20-33

In this week’s Gospel passage. Jesus declares that, ‘unless a wheat grain falls on the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest.’ He is speaking of course about his own life, but he is speaking also to those around him and those of us who read the words today. Unless we are prepared to let go of our ego, our status, our ‘reputation’, for the sake of others and respond to them from the heart then we can never experience the breadth and depth of what it means to belong to a community. When we are prepared to let go of our hang-ups and reservations to make a difference in the lives of others then the ‘harvest’ that will be gathered from those actions will be great indeed!

Vinnies Knock On Effect

Vinnies changes lives every day, but they need our help. During the month of March Vinnies is running the Knock On Effect campaign to highlight the knock on effects that donations, fundraising and raising awareness can have. With over 2 million people living below the poverty line in Australia, including over half a million children, your contribution allows the St Vincent de Paul Society to provide more than immediate help, it provides something much more valuable - the opportunity of a better life. Please join us in supporting those who need a hand up in challenging times
