PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

“Christ shared our experience; he suffered as we suffer; he died as we shall die, and for forty days in the desert he underwent the struggle between good and evil.”

Cardinal Basil Hume

This week is Holy Week and it culminates with the resurrection of Christ. Each grade is retelling the story of Holy Week throughout the course of the week. Yesterday, our Year 1 students retold the story of Palm Sunday and Jesus’ reception into Jerusalem. Today, 3/4M students retold the story of the Last Supper and tomorrow, our 5/6 students tell the story of the crucifixion of Jesus. Our Kindergarten students will retell the story of the Resurrection at the beginning of Term 2. My thanks to all of our teachers for their support and to all of the students for leading the school so well in our Easter reflections.

Year 6 Leadership Day

Last Friday, our Year Students attended a Leadership Day with BFirm. By all accounts, the students had an excellent day and benefited a great deal from the activities (our Facebook page shares many photos of the day). The day stressed resilience, grit and teamwork, essential qualities for leadership and skills that benefit us all in life. My thanks to Sarah Kennelly and Paul Jenkins for organising the day. The second Leadership Day is in Week 2 of Term 2.

First Reconciliation

Our Year 3 students have finished the Sacrament of Reconciliation program and are now receiving the Sacrament for the first time. The students are staggered over a number of Saturdays and Sundays and our first recipients received the sacrament last Saturday. They were: Lucia M, Xavier H and Ciara F. Congratulations to our students for this step in their faith. I am very proud of you all. My thanks to our wonderful teaching staff, the parents who led the family group sessions, and to Fr John Woods, for his excellent support and encouragement.
