PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
Last night we held our Information Night for parents interested in enrolling their child or children at Sts Peter and Paul in 2022. It was very well attended. I would like to thank the Leadership Team, all of whom spoke, for their support, and I would like to thank four of our Year 6 students, who also attended, Greta Barmin, Eva Andrighetto, Noah Gocevski and Nicholas Wawn. Greta, Eva, Nick and Noah all spoke about what Sts Peter and Paul means to them and they did extremely well. I am very proud of them. We have two more Open Mornings, on Wednesday May 5th from 9 am – 11 am, and Monday May 10th, from 9 am – 11 am. Our enrolment period officially closes on Friday May 28th.
Cross Country
Last Friday we held our Cross Country Carnival at Eddison Park and fortunately, the weather was beautiful and created an ideal day to hold a carnival. It was a very good morning and all children from K – 6 had the opportunity to participate. My thanks to Mary de Smet for her excellent work in coordinating the carnival and to all staff for their support. We also had many parents assist on the day and I would like to thank all of our parents as well. Your support is essential – thank you.

ANZAC Day
Yesterday 3/4B led the school in a prayer reflection on ANZAC day. My thanks to Luke Gubler, and the boys and girls of 3/4B, for their thoughtful and reflective presentation on ANZAC day. The school was fortunate in having one of our parents, Wing Commander Danny Sgalippa speak to the childen about what ANZAC Day means to him and the significance of the day for the the wider community. My thanks to Mr Sgalippa for his support and to 3/4B for their very good work.
Compass
A reminder that parents are now asked to update their parent contact information via Compass, which will increasingly be used to push out all information. It will take the place of Szap and become the major and primary communication platform that is used by the school. Please update your details as soon as possible.
Gymnastics in the playground
We have a current ban on gymnastics in the playground during break times as an interim control measure related to the number of injuries we have had from gymnastics at the end of the last term. We had 13 injuries in one day and multiple injuries on other days due to gymnastics in the playground.
This is a temporary control measure while we review the data and talk to teachers and students about the individual activities causing the injuries. We will develop a position related to how we can still allow students freedom of movement without the large number of recorded injuries we saw at the end of the term and update students and parents around these playground activities in the coming weeks.
Staff Learning
Jade Arranz, one of wonderful CSAs, is currently undertaking some further study. Jade is studying a Bachelor of Social Science with a major in Behavioural Studies. Some of her degree units include Brain and Behaviour, Psychology of Infancy and Early Childhood, Psychology of Wellbeing and Connecting with Culture: Indigenous Australian Experiences, and the like. This will aid Jade in her work at Sts Peter and Paul and is a credit to her and her dedication to her ongoing learning. Congratulations, Jade.
Year 6 Leadership Day
This Friday, our Year 6 students have their second Leadership Day at BFirm. The students have a thoroughly enjoyable day and are enabled to partcipate in a number of acitivities that are designed to increase their skills in collaboration, communication and teamwork, as well as build their resilience. My thanks to Paul Jenkins and Sarah Kennelly for their work in organising this experience for our Year 6 students.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
