Cooking/Food Science and the Curriculum and Garden Club

The beginning of Term 2 sees Year 1 and Kinder using our kitchen garden to enhance our classroom learning. Kinder are having fun with maths and health while Year 1 are learning about science and social skills.

This week, however, Kinder and Year 1 had the pleasure of making ANZAC Day biscuits while they learnt about why we still make them today. They all enjoyed cooking yummy biscuits as well as developing an understanding of why these biscuits were sent overseas to our soldiers during the war (a history lesson thrown in for good measure).

Carry bags were also decorated so everyone could take some home to share with family and friends.

In Garden Club we are taking care of very precious plants that will be finding new homes in a few weeks. Mums, Grandmas and carers – keep a look out for these…

This week’s garden club starts back up on Friday with lots of important jobs to do. We will be tidying up, watering and harvesting at lunch on Friday, after eating time.
