PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
Last week I wrote about the importance of developing a growth mindset in our students and the impact this can have upon mathematics and potential jobs of the future. This week I am including a video from Jo Boaler a university professor at Stanford university. She is linking a growth mindset with new neurological studies and examining how this impacts upon learning. Very interesting research. Her research aligns with what we are achieving in Numeracy thanks to our work with Leonie Anstey who challenged us to incorporate evidence of learning or Make, Say, Write, Do into all numeracy lessons. Watch the video below to find out more.

Acting Assistant Principal
As you are aware, Mrs Armstrong’s Mum is unwell at present, and she has made a decision to step down as Acting Assistant Principal to prioritise her family. Maryanne will continue as Classroom Support Teacher (CST) and Coordinator in a part-time capacity for the remainder of the term. Expressions of Interest for an Acting Assistant Principal, for the remainder of the year, have been advertised to school leaders in the Diocese. I will let you know the outcome of this process in the coming weeks. We continue to keep Mrs Armstrong in our thoughts and prayers.
PSSA Cross Country
Congratulations to all our students who represented the school at the PSSA Cross Country Carnival at Stromlo running track on Monday. The weather was wild but our students braved the conditions and represented our school fantastically well. Thanks to Mr. Kucher and Mr. Jenkins for your organisation and attendance on the day.
Review of Counselling and Wellbeing Services
In the interests of ensuring our students have access to high-quality programs and systems to support their wellbeing, Catholic Education is conducting a review of the wellbeing services and programs that are currently available in our schools.
As a key stakeholder, we seek your input into this process of review. We therefore invite you to complete an online survey which may be accessed by following the hyperlink:
https://forms.gle/tV3PRYh4VVVprMyQ9
In advance, we thank you for taking the time to share your insights and perspectives.
At the conclusion of the process, we will report to you on our findings and related plans for the future to ensure that the services available to our students are of the highest quality.
Mushrooms
We have had mushrooms growing in the school grounds recently. Teachers have stressed to students the importance of leaving these alone and not picking or playing with them. Our groundsman is conducting regular sweeps of the school to remove any that he finds. Please ensure you echo our message to your children about not touching mushrooms and reporting them to a teacher so they can be safely removed.
Enrolment Period
Over the last week, I have had the pleasure of interviewing a number of new families seeking enrolment in our school for 2020. These will continue for the next two weeks. Our current enrolment message is It is not too late to book a tour! Contact our office to arrange a time! 62811932 or Office.Stpandp@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Your testimonials to parents are still the number one influencing factor for parents choosing a potential school. Please continue spreading the word about our school.
Blessings and best wishes
Sean Rutledge
Principal (Acting)
