LIBRARY NEWS
WOW~ Thank you to everyone who supported our BOOK FAIR!
We are beyond thrilled to announce that the Book Fair was a tremendous success… we had a whole school goal of 310 books and we ended up selling 500 books exactly!!
We made over $8000 in sales and we will receive over $2000 in Scholastic rewards to spend on books and resources in the Library!
I am overwhelmed by the generosity and support of both parents and staff of our school. Thank you to everyone who helped out with running the fair… and for everyone’s patience during the busy hours of the fair when the lines to purchase were long!
Congratulations to our colouring competition winners!
Mr Johns and Mr Rutledge had a very hard time judging the fantastic entries for our Book Fair Colouring In Competition! Congratulations to the winners who received a voucher to spend at the Book Fair and to our Runner Up students who chose a book from my Book Prize Box.

Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge Ambassador Visit
Last Thursday, Dr Stephanie Owen Reeder, Ambassador for the CMRC came to visit Kinder, Year 1 and 2. What a fabulous morning learning all about being an author and reading some fabulous stories. Thank you to Stephanie for generously sharing her time and love of books with us… and of course for signing our school Library copies of her books! We are so lucky!
National Simultaneous Storytime
We also had another wonderful event last week- listening to Philip Bunting’s 'Give me some Space' book being read by Astronaut Shannon Walker. It was wonderful to see her in the International Space Station and our students were part of over 1.9 million students from around the world tuning in to listen to the story.
When I tagged author Philip Bunting to show him our awesome decorations for this week, he replied with:
“Astronomical thanks for supporting NSS- I really hoped everyone enjoyed the reading! Please say g’day to all of your Astronauts-in-waiting from me :)”.
Congratulations Sts Peter and Paul on a fantastic week of activities in the Library!
Please contact amanda.basedow@cg.catholic.edu.au if you have any questions regarding the Library or borrowing. Hopefully all books that were ordered through the book fair have been delivered to your children- should there be any issues please email me.
Keep reading and thank you again!
