GARDEN AND COOKING NEWS
The seedlings are in! Thank you again Mr Croker…
Last Friday Garden Club enjoyed their lunch time by planting and watering the new members of our kitchen garden family. We welcomed broccoli, snow peas and rocket. We will enjoy watching them grow and taking care of them, until we can harvest and enjoy them together.
In the classroom Year 1 and Kinder learnt about Science and Glow foods – the vegetable and fruit groups. During their cooking lessons they were able to cook with foods that assisted them to learn why they are important and react when cooked like they do. For example, pasta before and after it is cooked looks and feels different because of science (heat). Vegetable and fruits are easy to cook with and provide us with vital nutrients and minerals for our bodies to glow and have healthy hair and skin.
Both classes used the tomatoes from our kitchen garden and our pasta bake was enjoyed by all. We ate inside as it was very cold outside!
