Garden Club/Food Science/Curriculum

We have had a great time in the kitchen and garden learning about healthy eating and maintaining our garden.

In Food/Science we played Mystery Box (inspired by Masterchef). The children had a lot of fun choosing an ingredient and then making muffins. We made banana, raspberry, apple and cinnamon, and zucchini and cheese muffins. We also challenged ourselves by making something healthy using all the food groups – and we did it – we used something from each of the five food groups. A true Go, Glow and Grow muffin. The children drew which ingredient they used in the correct food group space in the books. We then shared our cooking and took extras home. Yum!!

In the garden we had three fabulous members helping to plant seedlings, weed and water. Our lemon tree is full so we also harvested these to use in the kitchen. It was amazing seeing the seedlings grow so much from when we planted them several weeks ago. This was the last garden club for this term and it was a lot of fun.

A thank you basket will be given to the Mr Croker (grandfather of Evie & Charlie) who provided the seedlings.
