Sacrament of Confirmation 2019
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in the Parish of the Transfiguration, North Woden on Tuesday, 17th September 2019 at 7pm at Holy Trinity Church, and again on Thursday, 19th September 2019 at 7pm at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Garran.
A reminder that there will be a Parent Information Night (PIN) to be held next week on Tuesday, 30th July at the Parish Centre. Monsignor John has emphasised how important attendance at this PIN is. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Parish office; you will be able to coordinate a time to collect the workbook and necessary paperwork from the parish secretary.
Sunday Gospel: Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year C
This week’s Gospel, Luke 11:1-13, invites us to reflect on prayer - it is in this part of Luke’s Gospel that Jesus teaches his disciples The Lord’s Prayer. Prayer is vital for us as Christians as we seek to build and foster our relationship with Jesus. Whether our prayers be praise, contrition, thanksgiving or petition, prayer allows us to recognise our need for God. In this Gospel Jesus instructs us to ask for what we need. He assures us that God is more than willing to meet our needs, if we are humble in our acknowledgment and request.
As in the longer version of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew, the prayer follows a distinct pattern that is itself an instruction on the nature of prayer. First there is focus solely upon God, and only after this do the petitions turn to address human need (for sustenance, for forgiveness and finally for protection in the hour of trial).

Tuesday 6th August – Parish Feast day of the Transfiguration, to be celebrated by the school community at Holy Trinity Curtin, Mass at 12:00pm.
