PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

Sporting News

Last week, students from Sts Peter and Paul participated in the South Weston Cross Country Carnival. Several our students did very well and are now competimg in the ACT Championships, including both Alice in Years 3/4 and Ava in Year 6, who both won their age division at the regional competition last week. My thanks to Cathy Shepherd, who joined me last week at the South Weston competition and assisted in looking after the students. Last week we also held our Athletics Carnival. All grades participated and we also had many parent helpers, which was wonderful to see. My thanks to Sarah Kennelly for organising our carnival so beautifully.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Many of our students in Year 6 are currently preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Last week, our students participated, with their parents, in the creation of their stole, which they will wear at their Confirmation. This Friday, all Year 6 students will participate in a retreat day, which will be held at the parish centre at Curtin. The children who are receiving the Sacrament will do so next Tuesday and Wednesday evening, at the Parish of the Transfiguration, Curtin. My thanks to Fr John Woods, our Parish Priest; our Year 6 teachers, Luke Gubler and Sarah Kennelly; and to our Religious Education Coordinator, Stephanie Burns, for their wonderful job in preparing the students. Thanks need to be given to our parents, for it is on their faith that we build. Thank you to the mums and dads of our students receiving the sacrament.

Pupil Free Day – Beginning of Term 3

A reminder that at the beginning of Term 3, Catholic Education has granted all Catholic schools a pupil free day, the purpose of which is to continue to develop Catholic Education’s Catalyst program. Students resume Term 3 on Tuesday, July 19th.

Merici College Dance Troupe

This Thursday, students from Merici College are presenting several dances to our all students, K – 6. It is both a welcome sign that school life is returning to a sense of normal functioning, post-COVID, and it provides a welcome opportunity for schools to share and showcase their talents.

Reports and Parent-Teacher Conversations

A reminder that our school reports will be published on Compass on Wednesday in Week 10. Reports this semester will include comments from our teachers. If you would like a parent-teacher conversation with your child’s teacher, or teachers, please contact them directly via email and arrange a time for a meeting.

Have a wonderful week with your families.

Best wishes
