PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
This week, students in Year 6 received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is the final sacrament of initiation, and once received, a person is considered an ‘adult’ in the eyes of the Church, which is to say, he or she has received in full the gifts of the Holy Spirit and is able to use the gifts in the service of others. Last night, and again tonight, the following children received or will receive the sacrament: Amelia W, Charlotte M, Edie R, Audrey B, Evie C, Imogen C, Elise L, Amelia S, Cameron deJ, Samson T, Elke S, Millie G and Isabella A. My deep thanks to our Year 6 teachers, Luke Gubler and Sarah Kennelly; to our Religious Education Coordinator, Stephanie Burns; and to Monsignor John Woods, for their support and preparation of the children. I would also like to thank the parents for their support, particularly those parents who hosted other students and their families during the Home Group sessions.
Rostrum Public Speaking Competition
On Monday night, at Charles Weston Primary School, Zoe in Year 6 participated in the Quarterfinals of the Rostrum Public Speaking Competition. Zoe did a wonderful job, and I was very proud of her and her efforts. Zoe competed with 7 other students from other schools, all of whom spoke very well too. Congratulations Zoe on an excellent achievement.
Student Representative Council
In order to better capture student voices and hear the many excellent ideas and suggestions that our students have, Sts Peter and Paul is starting a Student Representative Council. The aim of the SRC will be to meet two or three times a term and collaborate with me around making decisions that will add to the children’s experience of being at school. The futsal nets on the blue top, for example, came about two years ago, because of suggestions made by a group of boys who were then in Year 6. The SRC will be made up of students from Grades 3 – 6. The members of the SRC were voted in solely by the students in their class or grade. The students who will make up the SRC for the remainder of 2022 are:
3/4White: Ayla
3/4Blue: Amay
3/4M: Indie
5M: Ciara and Max
5W: Sienna and Anna
Year 6 Sport Team Rep: Ava (Term 3), Zoe (Term 4)
Year Charity Team Rep: Rory
Year 6 Media Team Rep: Sophie
Year 6 Environment Team Rep: Samson
Overall Year 6: Edie
Congratulations to all our SRC members. I look forward to the contributions they will make in the coming months to the life of the school.
Term 3 Start Date
A reminder that the Catholic Education office has designated that the first day of Term 3 as a pupil free day. The day has been given to schools for Professional Learning. Students return to school on Tuesday, July 19.
Working Bee
Last weekend, we held our first working bee since we first experienced COVID and the attendant effects of lockdown and isolation. We had a very good turn-out and a great deal was achieved: more soft fall was put around the play equipment, as well as a great deal of weeding and general tidying up. My thanks to Anna Williams and Kerry Marsham for organising the morning, and to all parents for their time and commitment to the school.

Reports
Teachers are currently finalising Semester 1 reports. All subject areas will be reported on and a comment at the end of the report is also included. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss his or her learning, please do so. Reports will be published via Compass Wednesday next week, June 9th.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
Principal
