THE KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM
Hello and welcome back to another fun filled term in the kitchen and garden.
We have started the term with Year 3/4 cooking in the kitchen, and also learning about sustainability once every three weeks.
This week was special in the kitchen as it is NAIDOC week so the Year 3/4 students learnt how to cook damper with Indigenous spices and herbs. It looked very yummy. The students were also reminded of kitchen behaviour and started learning many of the skills which can’t be taught so easily in the classroom.
In the garden this week, we welcomed an Indigenous plant called a Finger Lime. These plants are not frost tolerant so it will be placed in a pot and become our first pot plant under our kitchen garden sheltered eating area. We can enjoy it while we sit on our cushions and eat the delicious food we make.
We have lots of projects planned for this term so keep watching this space.....…
