PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Mr Rutledge and his wife on the safe arrival of their son Croí Sean Eoghan Rutledge last Friday. The arrival of a baby is one of God’s everyday miracles. We hold the Rutledge family in our thoughts and prayers throughout this special time. Mr Rutledge will be on paternity leave for the next two weeks.

Thank you for the warm way in which you and your children have welcomed me into your school community. I feel very blessed and fortunate to be a member of the Sts Peter and Paul school community. Feel free to make time and come to the school to introduce yourself to me.

School renovation work

A review of the tenders for the upcoming renovation works will occur this week. As Sean mentioned in last week’s newsletter, this might lead to some alternative entrances to the school and areas closed off in the coming weeks for this work to occur. We will have signs and barricades to indicate new travel paths and areas that will be blocked off. As the works are mainly cosmetic, meaning these areas should only be blocked for short periods of time. We will endeavour to write about this in the newsletter each week for your information.

Canteen and Uniform Shop

We welcome back Lauretta Raccosta and extend our thanks and gratitude to Eleen Binutti who has been doing a stellar job in Lauretta’s absence.

Daily Reading

I had the pleasure of presenting at and attending the annual Australian Literacy Educators Association national conference in Melbourne during the term break. A resounding message amongst presenters and keynote speakers was the importance of reading with our children at an early age. This article and advice from beloved Australian author Mem Fox emphasises many of the benefits and reasons why we should be reading aloud to young children: http://bit.ly/2Z6jW7I

School Survey

An annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to inform school improvement. Responses are confidential and individuals can not be identified.

The surveys will be sent using the email addresses supplied to the school. They open on 29 July and will close on 9 August 2019. If you do not receive an email with a link to the survey, you can access and complete the survey at the following link:

Value and Awards Assembly

This Thursday at 2:15pm the students of 5/6W will be presenting on ‘Faith’.  This will be followed by the Awards Assembly. All members of our school community are invited to attend.

Hats

A reminder that from August 1 and onwards for the rest of the year, students are required to have and wear their school hats during play time.

Blessings and best wishes,

Garreth Wigg

Assistant Principal (Acting)
