Last week in the Kitchen Garden was fun filled!! "Isn’t it always?" I hear you ask…

The children learnt how to make yummy pizza scrolls for Father’s Day. They also learnt that the scrolls included some of the food groups. They then decorated and wrote a special message on a plate on which to put the scrolls and present it to the special males in their lives. We hope all Father’s and father figures all had a lovely and special day.

The children also made apple muffins as part of their sustainability lesson in the kitchen called The Journey of the Apple. They learnt about where the apple comes from and how it gets to their plate and that the whole apple can be used and doesn’t need to be thrown away just because it’s not perfect.

Garden Club was a hive of activity last week. We needed to plant some trees and called out to our enthusiastic garden crew for help. Our prayer was answered. Many children joined us at lunch time on Friday to plant two lime trees. They had to dig two holes, add compost and manure and then cover with mulch and water. It was a big job  - but many hands made light work. Our crew also managed to squeeze in watering the other garden beds as well. Well done!!
