PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
“We were created for flourishing, the whole lot of us: were conceived and born for flourishing.”
Peter Steele SJ, Bread for the Journey
This Easter reflection from the late Peter Steele SJ, priest and poet, surely captures what has been done to us, and for us, as an outcome of Easter. The brutal and cruel death of Jesus, and his subsequent resurrection, is a vindication not just of the incomprehensible love of God, but the incomprehensible preciousness of all human beings – including those that we struggle with. As parents, and human beings, you were born to flourish, no matter how you actual feel that is going in your lives. Your children, our beautiful students, were also born to flourish. Flourishing does not mean that everything will always go our way, or that life will be easy – usually far from the case – but it does mean that, as Steele puts it, “…our lives are not accidental or incidental, that our personalities are not just the upshot of blind genetic forces, that our days and years are not simply a tick of the sun’s clock or earth’s clock, but that all this is something given its warrant, and its goal, by a Christ wounded to death by the world’s troubled ways, but now sustained immortality as our cherishing brother.”
Easter Liturgies
This week, our students are retelling the story of Holy Week, which we know culminates for the Church this Sunday, with the Resurrection. The children this week are retelling the events of Easter. Yesterday, the Kindergarten students retold the story of Palm Sunday, and did so beautifully. Today, our Year 5 students retold the story of Holy Thursday, and the Last Supper. Tomorrow, our Year 6 students will tell their story of Good Friday. When our students return, on Wednesday April 26th, our Year 2 students will tell the story of the Resurrection. My thanks to Veronica Hall for coordinating the liturgies and to all staff for their support and hard work.
Enrolment Period
The enrolment period for all Catholic schools begins at the beginning of Term 2. Sts Peter and Paul has three open days:
- Tuesday, May 2, 9.30am – 11am
 - Wednesday, May 10, 9.30 – 11am
 - Thursday, May 18, 9.30 – 11am

We also have an Information Night for prospective parents: Wednesday May 10 at 6pm in the hall.
It is also important to let the school community know that there is another information night, for parents whose children may be going into Year 4 or older. This is an information night on learning and leadership opportunities for students in Years 4 and above and will be held on Wednesday May 3 at 6pm in the hall. There are many opportunities for exciting learning opportunities for students in Years 4 – 6 and I encourage parents to attend our night on the 3rd of May.
First Day of Term 2
A reminder that the first day of Term 2 is on Wednesday April 26. Monday April 24 has been designated by Catholic Education, for all Catholic schools, as a pupil free day. The 25th is ANZAC Day, meaning our first day back with the students is Wednesday April 26th.
Flamenco
This week, we have celebrated Spanish culture with some wonderful Flamenco dancing displays and instruction. The children enjoyed learning about, and participating in, some wonderful dancing, and with that has come a greater appreciation of the Spanish culture. My thanks to Senora de Johnson for organising the cultural experiences and making them possible.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend and a good holiday period. I loom forward to seeing our families at the resumption of Term 2.
Best wishes
