PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Dear Parents,
On Friday morning, we were delighted to welcome a large number of families to our Father’s day breakfast. It was wonderful also to be joined by some grandparents and great-grandparents. Thank you to the members of staff who arrived at school at 7.00am to ensure that everything was ready for our visitors. We were also blessed by beautiful weather and a lovely assembly from 2 Maroon in the church which further enhanced our morning.
New App for School communication
From this week, we will begin to phase in SZapp as the replacement to the Skoolbag app. The SZapp will be the one-stop-shop for school communication with an easy to use interface.
From this week until Week Ten, content will be duplicated across both SZapp and Skoolbag platforms to aide in the switch. When signing up you will have the ability to choose what type of content you would like to receive as a push notification. We suggest that you enable push notifications for this app to make sure you don't miss any important events or information. SZapp will replace the SkoolBag app, and SkoolBag will not be used after the end of this term.
For more information about the SZapp, please see the following links. If you need any further information, please contact the school.

The Big Sing
Today we have many of our senior students attending the Big Sing at St John Vianney in Warramanga. Thank you to Mrs Hackwill for organising this event for our students.
3/4 White Values Assembly
Next week 3/4 White is due to present the value of Hope to our school community. With the hall being out of action, the children from 3/4W will make presentations to individual classes on Wednesday straight after recess. Parents from 3/4 White are more than welcome to come to classrooms to see their child introduce this important value to their assigned class. On Thursday we will run an awards ceremony outside where students lineup at 2:15 pm.
Growth Mindset
Try using these “What” questions when talking about school with your children. These can be used on the way to or from school and help to encourage a growth mindset. Try them out!
Lost Property
With the advent of spring and the beginning of warmer weather, our Lost Property bins are overflowing with discarded jumpers and hats. If you are missing any of these times please take some time to check this area in front of the canteen.
TOM
Seven senior students represented Saints Peter and Paul School in the Tournament of the Minds competition. Congratulations to Abhishek K, Anabelle S, Alex S, Dev B, Thomas W, Evie W and Tessa G. Thanks to Mrs Birch for organising and taking the students to participate in this great initiative. Below are reflections from two of our students:
In TOM’s we did a long challenge and a short challenge. We did the long challenge first at 20 to 2. It was the one that we had practised for ages and come up with ourselves. It took forever and ever to bring it together. The short term challenge was the second challenge. In that challenge we had a topic, and we as a team had to come up with answers to the questions. We had 3 questions and 4 minutes to answer the questions and 1 minute to present our answer. I enjoyed this fun activity. Dev B
In Tournament of the Minds (T.OM.S) we had 2 challenges, one was the long term challenge and a short term challenge, the first challenge we did was the long term challenge, we had to practice the long forever, the long term challenge was that there was an international committee that is holding an event where lots of countries are participating, but one country doesn’t want to participate, our challenge was to create a skit where we answer why didn’t the country join, we also had to make up a product that the committee will give to make a lasting legacy.
In the short challenge they gave us a scenario and some questions, the scenario was that there were some people gathered in a party and suddenly they went silent. The questions were, why were they gathered? Why did they go silent? What happened next? Abhishek K
Hall Renovation Update
Progress this week has again been steady with more sanding and refinishing work being completed. As you can imagine with such a large area of woodwork to redress it is very labour intensive work. The stage is nearing completion, and next week installation of the storage on the sides of the hall will begin. Over the coming weeks, there may be a need to expand the worksite into the front office area to ensure the project will be completed on time. We will communicate further as we have more information relating to this.
A reminder that during the school holidays, the renovation will move into the front office and foyer areas. The front of the school will not be accessible during this time. All-access will be via the rear of the school.
Blessings and best wishes

Principal (Acting)
