PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

First Eucharist

Last weekend, we celebrated the first Eucharist of a number of our students in Year 4. The Masses were very happy and joyous occasions, and I would like to thank all involved, who contributed to the Masses being so special: our excellent Year 4 teachers; Veronica Hall, our wonderful REC; and our very supportive parish team, Fr John and Catherine Grinsell-Jones. A big thank you too to our parents for supporting their children, and for leading the Home Groups. Without your help, the occasion would not have been as meaningful. Thank you all.

Netball Achievement

Congratulations to our girls in Year 6, whose team – SPP Gang Gang Cockatoos – played in their final on the weekend. Despite not achieving the outcome they were hoping for, parents and friends were very impressed with the girls’ level of teamwork, support for each other and commitment to the team. The fact they were coached by two past students, Ava and Hannah, added to the special nature of the team. Well done, girls.

Netball_Wk_9_T3.jpgMarket Day

Last Friday, our Year 6 students hosted the annual ‘Market Day’. This is one of the highlights of leadership calendar for our Year 6 students. All money raised goes to worthy causes and in that sense, is an example of faith put into action. My thanks to our Year 6 teachers, Katie McGregor and Luke Gubler, for their excellent organization and leadership, and to the Year 6 students themselves, for their hard work and support of those in need.

Grandfriends’ Day

A reminder that this Friday, all grandparents – or grandfriends – are invited to the school, at 12.30, to visit their grandchild’s or grandfriend’s classroom and participate in some activities. Grandparents and friends, with other family members, are then invited to join us for a byo lunch on the bluetop and oval, from 1.10pm. We would love to see our grandparents and friends here on the day. A reminder that students will need to bring their own lunch on Friday as our grandfriends celebration will not start until after their usual lunch time.

Term 4 Start Date

A reminder that Term 4 begins next term on Monday, October 9th, for all students.

I wish all of our families a wonderful holiday and a restful two weeks. Our hopes are with the Wallabies, who face a do-or-die game this coming Monday, against Wales. Whatever team you follow in the AFL or NRL, I hope you enjoy the finals as they rapidly approach.

I look forward to seeing all of our families again Monday, October 9.

Best wishes

Cameron Johns
