RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
Sunday Gospel: Luke 16:19-31, Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year C
In the Old Testament, it is very clear that how well the people are living in relationship with God is measured by how well the very least in the society are being treated. Time and again, God makes it clear to the people, through the prophets, that what they are expected to do is live in right relationship with one another and with God.
In this week’s Gospel, the rich man lives in extravagant luxury but ignores the plight of Lazarus who is starving at his door. (This is not the same Lazarus that Jesus raised from the dead.) Both men die and, as Jesus taught over and over again, the poor man Lazarus is welcomed into the kingdom of God but the rich man, who ignored his neighbour, is not.
Confirmation 2019
On Thursday 19th September, a number of our Year 6 students from our Parish celebrated their Confirmation. Congratulations to these students, it was a prayerful and moving celebration as these young people were confirmed in our faith. The Archbishop commented on how reverent the children and their families were, and how much he enjoyed celebrating with our community.
A special thank you to all the parents, staff, families and parishioners who supported the children through this Sacrament, and to Monsignor John Woods and Archbishop Christopher Prowse, who celebrated both Masses with our students.
