A WORD FROM OUR SCHOOL LEADERS

Leaders_are_learners.jpg

This week we had a special guest named Sean Choolburra. Sean is an Indigenous performer whose ancestors are Gu-Gu-Yalanji, Kalkadoon, Kandju and Bwgcolman from Townsville and Palm Island. He did some really fun traditional dances and some of the students also joined in on the dances. We even had one of the kindergarten boys play the didgeridoo. We also found out that Sean is the voice of Maynard on Bluey! He was a great guest, we learned so much about Aboriginal people and their culture and history through his stories and dance.

This year's cross country was very fun. Everyone did so well, and everyone cheered for their houses like their lives depended on it. It was exciting and fun for everyone and even the kindies were allowed to race. It was tiring but also really fun and everyone enjoyed running and cheering the whole way through. The day was only possible because of all the teachers' hard work to make the event as organised and fun for the students. We hope for the best to everyone who made it to regionals no matter what place they get.

This term we did a lot of learning, but the best things about Term 1 were Stations of the Cross, swimming carnival, cross country, the disco, harmony day and Sean Choolburra’s visit. This term has gone by so fast but we have still done so much learning for the past 11 weeks. We are so excited for the next 3 terms because there will be even more fun and learning. The fun things about the next 3 terms will be the athletics carnival, science day, book week and lots of other fun activities. We hope you have 2 amazing weeks of school holidays and when you all get back you are ready for more fun and learning.
