PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
Yesterday, we celebrated our annual Transfiguration Feast Day with Holy Trinity Primary School. The Parish of the Transfiguration comprises two communities, Garran and Curtin, which is why the two schools celebrate the sacraments together. The parish, as an amalgamation of the two school communities, is 30 years old this year, so we celebrated with a cake to give the occasion its appropriate recognition. The day was a wonderful success and this is due to the hard work of many people: my thanks to Lauretta for cooking lunch for the students from both schools, and to the army of parents who volunteered to assist Lauretta; to Trish Collis and Maryanne Armstrong, and our many wonderful CSAs, who set up the STEM room for the staff lunch; to Fr John for celebrating Mass for us; to the Sts Peter and Paul teachers for coordinating joint class buddy activities with their Curtin counterparts; the staff and student of Holy Trinity for excellent support and contributions; and a very big thank you to Sarah Walsh, our acting REC, who coordinated the day so well and did so many things behind the scenes to help make the day run smoothly. My thanks to you all.
This Thursday, our 3rd and final snow trip to Corrin Forest is taking place. The snow trips have been wonderful experiences and been both a great deal of fun and have also broadened the horizons of the students. We will continue them next year, as they form a crucial part of our Years 3 – 6 Leadership Program. My thanks to Luke Gubler for coordinating the trips, and for going on the excursion this Thursday with the students, together with Maddi Mertz.
Key Leaders’ Day
On Friday, parish priests, school principals and school Religious Education Coordinators are gathering for our annual Key Leaders in Religious Education Day. Our keynote speaker is the journalist Greg Sheridan, a frequent contributor to The Australian newspaper. https://youtu.be/XuuFF7rL83w
Year 5 Squash
A sports program that is unique to Year 5 is being trialed this year and begins next week. Our Year 5 students are undertaking a Squash program over the next 6 weeks at Woden Squash Centre. In itself, it comprises an aspect of the Years 3 – 6 Leadership Program. It promises to be both enriching and fun. Again, my thanks to Luke Gubler for coordinating and organising our involvement.
The Assumption of Mary – school Mass
Next Thursday week, the Church celebrates the Assumption of Mary into heaven. We will be holding a Mass at 12pm in the school hall. All students from K – 6 will be attending. Parents are also warmly invited to join us for the Mass, if they are able to attend, and parishioners will also be with us. My thanks to Fr John and to Sarah Walsh for coordinating and celebrating the Mass.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
