PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
House Cup
Last Friday, at recess and lunch, Luke Gubler, our Sports Coordinator, organised a ‘Tug-of-War’ between Grades 3 & 4 students, and 5 & 6 students. Each House competed against the other 3 houses, with Cooyal taking home the honours for last week. This week, on Friday, the students again get to compete to bring glory to their House, and the competition is AN EGG AND SPOON RACE!. My thanks to Luke for organising these activities; they are an enjoyable way for the children to bring their term to an end and help provide a focus and a fun activity in the last weeks of Term Four.
Illuminate
This Friday, our Youth Ministry Team travel by bus to St John Vianney’s, where they will join other Teams from other schools, for a day-long retreat and experience in evangelisation. This opportunity will enrich our students’ faith lives and also help grow their leadership skills, as they prepare to start high school next year. My thanks to our excellent acting REC, Sarah Walsh, for coordinating our school’s involvement in this Archdioscean activity.
Years 1 – 6 New Students Orientation
A reminder that new students in 2025, in Grades 1 – 6, will have an orientation morning at school, from 9.30am – 12pm, on Tuesday November 26th.
Christmas Carols – Save the Date
Save the date! Our Christmas Carols picnic night, which may well include a special visit from a special person, is taking place on Tuesday, December 10 (Week 9), at 6pm. All grades will have the opportunity to perform some carols for the parent community, so we encourage all families to attend this evening and enjoy the social atmosphere, the opportunity to mix with other families, and hear each grade perform some beautiful carols. My thanks to Lisa Gill, our excellent music teacher, and to Daniel Muller, one of our very generous dads, who is providing support for the evening via speakers and microphones.
Class Lists
We are well into the process whereby students are asked to nominate 4 friends they would like to have with them in class next year. A Google Doc has been sent home to all families, for this purpose. We will ask you to assist your child at home, in choosing his or her four friends. One of those friends is guaranteed by the school to be with your child next year. This form is due back by this evening. If you have any concerns around class placement for next year, I would ask that you email me directly at cameron.johns@cg.catholic.edu.au. Class lists for all grades will published Monday Week 9.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
