What if Christmas Eve was at School!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you know we have our Carols Night coming up which is also our Performing Arts end of year concert.  Below is a list of performances and what is required, keywords for what to wear unless the students have chosen a specific costume. 

The focus this year for most of the grades is dance and the students have been working hard choreographing their own Christmas performances. They will be teaching you the steps so you can join in with us on the night, you might like to remind them so you do not miss out. I have put in a hint to help jog students memories ? But get singing voices ready also, we have a few carols to share.

Drama club will be our presenters, the Mallet Band, SPP Pipers will be performing and Choir will be leading our carols for the evening. 

Kinder: Singing and dancing  - christmassy, hop hop

Year 1: Singing, percussion and dancing  - christmassy, hip hop

Dance Hint Hip Hop: This is how we do the front cross, its easy as 1 2 3, this is how we do the front cross, now everyone just follow me.  Now take the right foot, cross it in front of the left, wait a minute, jump back, Now take the left foot, cross it in front of the right, wait a minute, jump back … repeat for back cross, side step and then put it all together …

 Year 2: Recorder and dance - christmassy, jingle bells, Aussie

Year 3: Mallet and dance - christmassy, Aussie, rock and roll feel

Dance Hint Bush Dance: Circle Dance - partners prance clockwise 8 steps, turn and prance back 8 steps … face your partner - heel toe to the right, heel toe to the left … jingle bells, jingle bells, swing your partner round … left hand clap, right hand clap, clap your knees, jump up and down, jingle bells, jingle bells, swing your partner round, left hand clap, right hand clap, clap your knees, pass you partner round.

 Year 4: BoomWhacker and dancing - Rudolph, christmassy

Dance Hint Line Dance: Right xmas lights, left xmas lights, cha cha prancing reindeer, ride the sleigh forward, ride it back, bump bump jingle (or rock), take a walk forward, kick the snow, head right back and kick again, lift the sack and turn 2 3 4.

Year 5: Ukulele and dancing - christmassy, snowman, hula, hawaii!

Dance Hint Hula:  Kaholo … Kao … Hela … our hands tell the story. Practise your hip

      swaying!!

Year 6:  Singing, dancing, African percussion - set costumes or a christmassy feel

Concert Ends with a dance spectacular lead by Year 6 to herald the arrival of Santa Claus!
