PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
My thanks to the Sts Peter and Paul Community for their great support of the many events last week – from the Parent/Teacher interviews, to the Swimming Carnival, to the teachers involved in ‘Communities of Colloboration,’ and many more, thank you to the many staff and parents who made everything work.
NAPLAN was one of the events that was on the school’s calendar last week, and this week it continues, with children who were absent having the opportunity to sit the tests. My thanks to the Years 3 and 5 teachers, and to Sam Mance, Fron Garrett-Rumba and Paul Jenkins, for all of their ‘behind-the-scenes’ work, in supporting our students.
Emotional Support Services
My thanks to our School Welfare Officer, Bernadette Johnson, for the excellent work she is doing in supporting our students. Bernadette is currently running ‘Seasons for Growth’ for a group of our students. ‘Seasons’ addresses issues of change, as experienced by our students. Bernadette is also running a ‘Social Skills’ workshop for another grade, which addresses conflict resolution and friendship skills. Bernadette’s work is invaluable and provides another source of pastoral care for our students.
Student Representative Council
Our first SRC meeting took place yesterday. Congratulations to our SRC representatives: Poppy deS, Daemie P-O, Ari A, Marcus J, Alexis V, Kolbe T, Chiara C, Lilah J, Massimo M and Michael W. I have great confidence in all of our SRC members that they will do a wonderful job representing our student body. My thanks as well to Sarah Walsh and Bridget Pigram, for coordinating our SRC meetings.
Colour Run
The big day is almost here! This Friday sees our ‘Colour Run’ day take place. This will be a lot of fun for the children and a great fundraiser for the school. My thanks to Karina Jones and the Community Council for the great support of the school.
Professional Development
A reminder that I will be away this week on Wednesday and Thursday. I will be attending a Principal Leadership course in Melbourne. In my absence, Sam Mance will very capably lead the school. I will be back on Friday.
Have a wonderful week with your family.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
