Support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal

As the winter chill sets in, let's come together to help those in need. On Wednesday Week 8, 18th June, join us for Wednesday Winter Woolies—wear your coziest winter clothes and bring a warm item to donate. Coats, scarves, gloves, blankets, and jumpers are all welcome! If you’re unable to bring a donation, a financial contribution will be just as appreciated.

Let’s make a difference—every small act of kindness keeps someone warm this winter.

Pentecost Sunday Solemnity - John 14:15-16, 23-26

This is the day when the first followers of Jesus were empowered to throw off their hesitation and fear and speak boldly and openly about the marvels of God, made manifest in the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus had promised this - an Advocate who would stand by them and for them, teach them and remind them of him. The powerful imagery of their experience of this carries with it the sense that they have no control over what is happening.

We, at various levels, are tempted to want to harness or categorise the Spirit of Jesus. Is this what Paul means by ‘unspiritual lives’? His somewhat confusing use of the word to interchange meanings, from ‘Spirit of God’, ‘Spirit of Christ’ ‘your spirit’ is his way of expressing the intimate union in which we share. As we say in the Creed, the Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son is Lord and giver of life. May his Spirit live in us, in our families, our communities and our Church and continually challenge us as we journey together on the way to the fulfillment of the Kingdom.
