PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
Last Sunday, we held a Working Bee in the school grounds, and I would like to express my thanks to the parent community for their support and help in beautifying the school grounds. A large number of parents and children assisted in weeding much of the area adjacent to the junior playground and the bluetop, and the retaining walls at the front of the school were also given a fresh coat of lacquer. My thanks to all involved, and to Sam Mance and Nic Marsham, who were involved in much of the background organisation.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Last night, our Confirmation Candidates in Year 6 received the Sacrament of Confirmation at our parish Church of the Transfiguration. The Vicar-General, Fr Richard Thompson, presided over the Sacrament, and was assisted by our parish Priest, Fr James Antony. My thanks to the many people involved in preparing the children: our parents who ran the home groups; our Year 6 Teachers, Paul Jenkins, Nic Marsham and Katie McGregor; our Religious Education Coordinator, Andrea McQuirk; and of course Fr James and Fr Richard, and the staff at Holy Trinity, with whom we celebrated the Sacrament. Congratulations to our Candidates for their step in faith.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Our parent-teacher interviews conclude this afternoon at 5pm, after running for 3 days. My thanks to all parents and teachers for their colloborative conversations, and working together for wellbeing and education of all students. I would like to particularly thank Samantha Mance, our Assistant Principal, for her great work in coordinating the interviews, and making it possible for them to happen. Reports will be published to parents this Monday.
Illuminate Conference
Tomorrow, our Youth Ministry Team (made up of some Year 6 students), our Youth Ministry Coordinator, Julia Norgrove, and our REC, Andrea McQuirk, are attending the Youth Ministry Conference at St John Paul II College. It will be a wonderful opportunity for our team to deepen their faith and enjoy the company of fellow Youth Ministry team, from other schools. There are sixteen schools attending. My thanks to Andrea and Julia for their work and organisation.
Sts Peter and Paul Feast Day
In what has been a very busy week for Miss McQuirk, on Friday we are celebrating our Sts Peter and Paul Feast day. The students will be participating in a number of different activities for the day, and we are having a special whole school Mass at 12pm in the school hall, to which all parents are invited. My thanks to Andrea for all of her work and coordination of the day.
Last Day of Term 2 and First Day of Term 3
A reminder that the last day of Term 2 for students is Thursday July 3rd. The first day of Term 3, for students, is Tuesday, July 22nd.
Have a wonderful, warm and dry week with your families.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
Principal
