RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
Feast Day
This Friday (Week 9), we will be celebrating the Feast Day of St Peter and St Paul! The children will be learning more about the lives of our patron saints and their important contributions to Christianity; St Peter as the first Pope, and St Paul through his powerful missionary journeys.
As part of the celebration students will be provided with a special hotdog lunch and a treat.
All families are warmly invited to join us for our Feast Day Mass at 12pm in the Sts Peter and Paul School Hall.
Confirmation
Last night, our Year 6 students celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, a significant step in their faith journey. Thank you to all families, teachers, and parish members who have supported and guided them throughout this special time. We look forward with hope and joy to seeing how the Holy Spirit continues to inspire and lead them as they prepare for high school and the years ahead.
Support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
This Friday morning (Week 9) at 8:30am, we’ll be selling hot chocolate from the canteen to help raise funds for St Vincent de Paul, supporting our winter appeal. For a gold coin donation, your child can enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate before school. Thank you for helping us support those in need this winter!
Thank you for all your donations for the Winter Woolies day last week, this will go a long way to support those in our local community in need this frosty season.
Sts Peter and Paul Apostles Solemnity - Matthew 16:13-19
Peter and Paul didn’t always see eye to eye in this life. Paul tells us in Galatians how he stood up to Peter and even rebuked him for what he perceived as hypocrisy or double standards. Paul certainly fought many good fights during his years of mission and witnessing to the Good News of God’s grace. We know a little about the later struggles of Peter but have hints through traditions about his martyrdom. Today we remember both for their unwavering devotion to their Lord and learn how each is an example to us of courage, conviction and absolute trust in the power of God to be with them in every circumstance. Jesus’ question to his disciples, ‘Who do you say I am?’, confronts us always. The clear answer Peter gives, together with the letters of Paul and other writings attributed to him or to Peter, are important starting points for our answer to this ever-relevant question. As members of the church of Jesus, founded on the inspired faith of Peter and Paul, we are invited to support each other in the quest.
