PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
God of bold beginnings and second chances,
You called Peter, the fisherman who failed,
And Paul, the persecutor who changed.
Help us follow you with courage and heart.
Lead us like Peter. Transform us like Paul.
Sunday was the Feast Day of Sts Peter and Paul, and last Friday, Trish Collis led the staff in prayer, focused on the Feast Day of our two patrons. The prayer focused on the very human realities of Peter and Paul. The Dominican Cardinal, Timothy Radcliffe, calls Peter ‘the patron saint of slow learners’, by which he means, those of us (which is all of us) who are slow to realise that God is a God of love and mercy, and asks nothing of us in terms of performance or achievement. Through their long, often painful and worked through reflections on the person of Jesus, Peter became a great leader and Paul a great transformer. If they can be so transformed, why not us? Why not our school community? Peter and Paul, despite the separation of two thousand years, were not so very different from any one of us. They yearned for the fullness of life that God offers us all, and that same yearning resides, I believe, in the depths of every human heart.
School Reports
On Monday, school reports were published to the school community, via Compass. My thanks to all teachers who compiled and weighed assessments, and who then wrote the reports. Please take the time to read your child’s report and discuss with him or her areas of progress and areas that may need some attention. Thank you to all parents for your support and collaboration with the school, and in particular, your child’s teacher.
Staffing News
In staffing news, our wonderful Classroom Support Teacher, Maryanne Armstrong, is taking a well-deserved holiday for the remainder of the year. Maryanne’s leave is effective from the beginning of Term 3. I wish Maryanne all the very best for her break and we look forward to her return. Samantha Mance, our excellent Assistant Principal, will step into the role of Classroom Support Teacher and do a very good job. I thank Sam for taking up the role. Nic Marsham will take Sam’s place in 4M, and teach 4M for half the week, with Michele Halis-Pratt continuing to teach 4M for the other half of the week. Nic’s great dedication and tireless work will serve the children very well.
Performing Arts Assembly
This Thursday, we are holding our Performing Arts assembly at 2pm in the hall, led by Lisa Gill. All parents are invited, and it promises to be a wonderful celebration of the children’s talents and gifts. My thanks to Lisa for her excellent work. As a result of the longer assembly, our week 10 awards will be presented at the morning assembly on Thursday morning.
Last Day
A reminder that the last day for students is Thursday, July 3rd. Term 3 begins for students on Tuesday, July 22nd.
I would like to thank the parent community for their support of the school and the staff over the last term. It is greatly appreciated. Have an excellent holiday with your children and I look forward to seeing our students and families at the beginning of next term.
Best wishes
