Transfiguration Feast Day

Last Wednesday the whole school travelled across to Holy Trinity to celebrate the Parish of the Transfiguration Feast Day. The Feast of the Transfiguration recalls the moment when Jesus revealed His divine glory to Peter, James, and John on Mount Tabor. His face shone like the sun and His clothes became dazzling white, as Moses and Elijah appeared beside Him, affirming Him as the fulfilment of the Law and the Prophets. This event reminds us that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine, and it gives us hope in the promise of our own transformation in God’s presence. It is a call to listen to Christ, to trust in His mission, and to carry His light into the world.

The children had a wonderful day completing activities in their buddy classes related to the Feast, enjoying a sausage sizzle lunch and celebrating a whole parish Mass. It was very moving to see almost 700 children come together to celebrate Mass with Father James.

Feast of the Assumption of Mary

This Friday, 15 August, at 12:00 pm, we will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a whole school Mass in the Sts Peter and Paul School Hall, celebrated by Father James.

The Feast of the Assumption honours the belief that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. It is a celebration of her faith, obedience, and closeness to God, and reminds us of the hope we share in the promise of eternal life.

All families are warmly invited to join us for this special celebration.

Catholic Inquiry program – An Invitation …

Sometimes people wonder about what Catholics believe and how they live their faith. Sometimes they feel shy about asking these questions. At Holy Trinity Church we are starting an inquiry group for people who are not Catholic but who are searching for answers. This inquiry group will start on Tuesday 19th August 7.30pm in the Parish Centre and will go for 4 weeks. This opportunity may be for you, or someone you know, and may pave the way to the Rite of Christian Initiation Adults (RCIA) program. For further information, please contact Peter at the Parish Office 0459 394 813

20th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Not Peace but Division  Luke 12:49-53

The word ‘radical’ comes from the Latin radix meaning ‘root’.  In the true sense of the word, Jesus can be considered a ‘radical’ person. His words go straight to the heart, to the ‘roots’ of a person’s being. He exposes the hypocrisy of those who want to appear righteous. Even his detractors admit that he is a truthful man who is not concerned with anyone’s opinion (Mark 12:14). In today’s Gospel, Jesus says that he has come to establish, not peace on earth, but division. He has come to set the earth on fire. The Word of God that he preaches is like a sword that cuts, a fire that burns and purifies. Before it, people must decide whether to accept the cost of discipleship. Jesus himself is ready to pay the cost of his total dedication to his mission. To obtain the highest good - the salvation of men and women - he will pay the highest price: his own life. He then asks his disciples the same price: their total dedication to him, even at the cost of division among family members. He calls them to be ‘radical’ and add to the fire of divine love in our world.
