PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the first week of relatively normal school functioning. I hope the week has started well for you all.

Return to School

Our children from Kindergarten – Year 6 have returned this week and it has been lovely having them back. We have had almost all children return and it has been excellent to have them at school with their friends. The children have settled back into routine very well and are adjusting to school life relatively easily. I would like to take this opportunity to again thank the parent community for their great support: the numerous words wishing us well; and the gifts of cakes, chocolates, coffees, pizzas and the like have all contributed to the staff feeling very supported by your great acts of kindness. Thank you all. The children are adapting to the new routines, particularly the hygiene routines. If I could please remind the parent community of some of the necessary protocols in place:

  • Please provide a hand towel each day for your son/daughter, as the children will be washing their hands more regularly.
  • Please adhere to the unfortunately necessary restrictions of movement around the school: a minimum of two people in the front office area, and for the time being, we are asking parents to refrain from attending daily morning assemblies and Friday assemblies.
  • Pick up and drop offs each morning are now solely at the carline.

These restrictions are temporary and we look forward to welcoming our parents back onto the school grounds, at assemblies and the like, as soon as restrictions lift across the education sector. In this matter, we are guided by protocols set by the Catholic Education Office. Thank you for your support. Please contact me if you have any queries.

Student Achievement

Congratulations to Stella Holm, Anna Scanlan, Carmelline Tantri and Lilia Wilson (all in Year 3) who make up a big part of the under 12 Div. 4 Warriors Basketball Team and who were just announced as the Div. 4 champions for the ACT Basketball Junior Club Competition 19/20 summer season.  The girls went through the season undefeated and were 2 games away from the grand final when COVID19 restrictions brought the season to a close. Even more impressive was their capacity to work together and support each other, and as is always the case in such circumstances, individual skills and talents increased when the girls worked together and supported each other. I would also like to affirm the strong spirit of reconciliation that Warriors Basketball club (which has strong indigenous roots) brings to its teams and to the competition. Congratulations girls, we are very proud of you.

Enrolment Period

A reminder that our enrolment period continues for the rest of this week, before it formally comes to an end on Friday. As I did last week, I encourage all of our parents to visit our website and/or Facebook page, and leave a positive comment encouraging prospective parents to consider the school. We are currently tracking very well with Kindergarten enrolments which bodes well for 2021.

Have a wonderful week with your families.

Best wishes
