Will I read a book about love

Or about the stars above

A book about a talking mouse

Or one about a big treehouse

Perhaps I’ll read an adventure book

About a man named Captain Hook

A book about a pig or pug

About an ant, a bee or bug

A book about a dinosaur so old

Or a fierce dragon so bold

A book about pirates would be the best

Just like finding a treasure chest!

And will a boy wizard and his friend

Defeat 'He who shall not be named' in the end

Reading books will make me smart

My books and I will never part

Reading books will make me clever

I will read books forever

I Opened a Book

I opened a book and in I strode
Now nobody can find me.
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.

I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion.
I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king
And dived in a bottomless ocean.

I opened a book and made some friends.
I shared their tears and laughter
And followed their road with its bumps and bends
To the happily ever after.

I’ve finished my book and out I came.
The cloak can no longer hide me.
My chair and my house are just the same,
But I have a book inside me.
