PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back for another school year! It has been wonderful over the last 3 days greeting new and returning students to Sts Peter and Paul. The students have come back well and happy and all appear to have had a very good holiday. The school is currently in a period of growth and we have 43 Kindergarten students beginning this year, and 28 students from grades 1 – 6. I would like to welcome all of our new families to Sts Peter and Paul, including the Adhikari, Ayamiseba, Baines/Beckman, Balolong, Briant, Brooks/Olzen/Geelan, Brown, Cassells/Hicks, Chimaobi/Njoku, Clark, Clarke, Edgar, Ghanghas/Kumar, Jennings, Kaldasaun, Kamale, Katz/Michael, Lopez, O'Callaghan, Quek, Quiros, Scheele, Smith, Spear, Trynes, Tyler, Veech, Vishnuram, Bacani, Jose, Levinzon, Palmer, Selleck, Shankar/Babu, Bhadra, Eslick, Ivaschenko, Paragalli, Sunil Samuel, Chantree, Jacob, Arora, Ninness/Allender, Liamina/Lyamin, Madhu/Pulasseri, Faustino, Fry and Kaur/Jammu families.
I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to our three new staff members:
- Oriella de Johnson, our Spanish teacher
- Amanda Basedow, our Teacher/Librarian
- Alissa Pearson, our Performing Arts teacher
In addition, I would like to welcome back to Sts Peter and Paul Laura Williamson, who will teach KM one day a week.
I wish all of our families and staff, new or returning, a very happy 2021.
Parent Information Night
Next Tuesday we are holding our Parent Information Night. I invite all parents to attend from 6 – 7pm. Due to COVID restrictions, we will assemble on the asphalt, where we have morning assembly. I will introduce the staff to all parents and share the school’s agenda for the year. Parents will then have the opportunity to visit ‘grade booths’, set up on the blue top, and receive a Term 1 information pack, as well as meet their child’s teacher. It is an invaluable opportunity to meet other parents and form the beginnings of a good, sound professional relationship with your child’s teacher, which is so important for student learning. I look forward to seeing you on the night.
Opening School Mass & Staff Commissioning Mass
On Friday week, February 12, the opening school Mass take place. At the Mass, we will commission our Year 6 leaders, affirming and blessing them in their leadership and ministry to the school. My thanks to Francoise Garrett-Rumba for her work in organising the Mass.
Sunday week sees the parish commissioning of the staff at the Sunday Mass, at Curtin. If possible, I encourage all parents to attend as well. The commissioning of the staff, from the parish, acknowledges and affirms the school’s ties to the parish. We are very much part of our local parish, as all Catholic schools are, and it is a great opportunity to draw strength from that fact.
Future Events
Other upcoming events include Leonie Anstey visiting the school in week 3, the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday in week 3, and the Year 6 camp in week 4, which I too will be attending. It promises to be an exciting and busy term.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
Principal
