PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

"Above all the grace and gifts that Christ gives to his beloved is that of overcoming self.”

St Francis of Assisi

 Dear Parents and Carers

This year’s theme is ‘Gifted by Grace’ and the phrase comes from St Paul’s letter to the Romans. Grace is a gift given without merit: that is to say, it is given wholly and completely without conditions. We have all had times in our lives when we have experienced a greater awareness of others or of our connectedness to the earth and our community or a greater sense of peace that seems to be wholly without cause. In our faith tradition, we would say these are moments of grace, which means they are moments of experiencing God’s love. At Sts Peter and Paul, we believe that our students are gifted by grace and as such are called to live lives greater than they, and we, can currently imagine.

Parent Information Night

Last night we held our Parent Information Night. A large number of parents attended and I would like to thank the parent body for their support of the night. Parents had the opportunity to hear of the educational direction of the school as well as meet their child’s teacher/s. My thanks to all the school staff for their support of the night. If you were unable to attend last night, please contact your child’s teacher for a term overview.

Opening School Mass

This Friday, we are celebrating our opening school Mass for the year. It is the first time we have been able to celebrate Mass, as a whole school community, since the opening school Mass last year. At our Mass, we will also commission our Year 6 leaders. The parents of our Year 6 students are invited to attend. I hope that in time, with the lessoning of COVID restrictions, we are in a position to invite all of our parents to our school Masses and other whole school gatherings. This Sunday, at 9.30am Mass at Holy Trinity Curtin, the school staff are being commissioned at Mass. This is an important recognition of our connection to the parish and the fact that we are part of something bigger than the school itself. Parents are invited to attend.

School Census Data Information

Included in this newsletter is a letter from the Federal Government concerning census data. Please read the letter and let the school know if you have any concerns. If you need to update any of your details, please submit through the SZapp Change of Details tile.

Leonie Anstey Visit

Next week, Leonie Anstey, our Maths coach, is returning to Sts Peter and Paul to work with the staff over two days. Aside from running a staff meeting, Leonie will meet and work with staff and support us in our growth in teaching Maths. Leonie is a great resource for the school and provides a great deal of support.

Have a wonderful week with your families.

Best wishes
