Sunday Gospel: Luke 24:46-53
This weekend, we celebrate The Ascension of the Lord, Year C. The Ascension celebrates Jesus returning to God, and his glorification at God’s right hand. It is a further element of the Easter experience, where Jesus has triumphed over evil and death.
The Ascension also celebrates an experience of the early Christian communities. There was a time when they knew Jesus of Nazareth. He lived among them and they were invested in his vision of God’s reign. Then, following his death, there were brief moments of his presence. But there came a time when even these Risen appearances finished. The time of the Jesus bound by human form had come to an end.
In a sense, the Ascension is not simply something that happened to Jesus – his departure, physically from this world becomes a feast that celebrates the hope that his triumph will ultimately be ours as well.
Parish Mass – Sunday 2nd June
This coming Sunday, at the 9:30am Mass, we will be celebrating our Term 2 Parish Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Church. During this Mass, there will be a presentation of the Candidates for First Eucharist. All are warmly invited to attend.
North Woden Youth Ministry - Transfiguration Youth Group
The first North Woden Youth Ministry Transfiguration Youth Group (TYG), was held this past Sunday, May 26th at Holy Trinity, Curtin. The youth group was facilitated by our Youth Minister Sarah Pearson. A big thank you to Sarah for all that she did to organise and facilitate last weekend’s Youth Group. We look forward to the next one!
