Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 7, the term is flying along, and the semester is almost over. Teachers are hard at work writing semester reports which will be sent home in Week 9, Friday 28th of June. Please keep teachers in your thoughts and prayers during this time as they undertake this important work. Many hours are spent outside of the school day preparing these important documents. I believe that the comments in many ways are more important than the grade assigned as they take into account learning behaviours, attitudes and effort. An accurate assessment of these areas is not always clear using the A-E reporting scale. As always if you have any concerns regarding your child's progress, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
PSSA Cross Country
Congratulations to Lucas S, Anna S, Noah G, Lawrence K, Ava T & Ben S who were selected to represent our school and the South Woden district at the ACT Cross Country Carnival today. We wish them all the best in their races!
Rostrum Quarterfinal
Last night was the quarterfinal of our regional Rostrum Public Speaking competition. Students in Stage 3 were challenged to write a short speech that expressed their own ideas on a subject and is judged using 2 criteria: Content & Presentation. Claire N was selected by her teachers and peers to represent our school, speaking about the subject ‘starting again’. Claire was an excellent role model for our school and spoke incredibly well. Congratulations Claire on producing such a polished piece.
Carline and Car-park
As you may be aware, access to our school site can be challenging. Carline is a drive-through drop-off or drive-through pick-up zone. This is to maximise the number of cars driving into the school zone and to make drop-off and pick-up as quick as possible. To ensure that traffic flows as smoothly as possible through the school site, please ensure that you do not park in the carline and ensure students get into cars in an efficient and safe manner.
Parents and visitors are welcome to park in the staff car-park at any time if there are vacant spaces. Please do not double-park in the staff car-park at any time. Often staff members need to leave school during the day and between 3.00pm and 3.30pm to attend meetings off-site.
School Pedestrian Crossing
I would like to thank the many parents who make use of the Pedestrian Crossing each afternoon during pick-up time after school. This week I have reminded several parents of the importance of using the crossing. Use of the crossing is crucial, from a safety point of view, as well to model and reinforce responsible road safety behaviour to our children.
Review of Counselling and Wellbeing Services
In the interests of ensuring our students have access to high-quality programs and systems to support their wellbeing, Catholic Education is conducting a review of the wellbeing services and programs that are currently available in our schools.
As a key stakeholder, we seek your input into this process of review. We, therefore, invite you to complete an online survey which may be accessed by following the hyperlink:
https://forms.gle/tV3PRYh4VVVprMyQ9
In advance, we thank you for taking the time to share your insights and perspectives.
At the conclusion of the process, we will report to you on our findings and related plans for the future to ensure that the services available to our students are of the highest quality.
Enrolment Period
Over the last week, I have had the pleasure of interviewing a number of new families seeking enrolment in our school for 2020. These will continue for the next two weeks. Our current enrolment message is It is not too late to book a tour! Contact our office to arrange a time! 62811932 or Office.Stpandp@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Your testimonials to parents are still the number one influencing factor for parents choosing a potential school. Please continue spreading the word about our school.
Blessings and best wishes

Sunday Gospel: Most Holy Trinity – Year C
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells the disciples that there is still so much that he has to say to them, and to teach them. But the disciples are not ready to receive everything in the time that Jesus has remaining. So, to continue the teachings of Jesus and to continue his expression of Love, the Father and the Son will send the Spirit. It was the sending of the Spirit that we celebrated last week in the feast of Pentecost and it is the unity of Father, Son and Spirit that we celebrate this week on Trinity Sunday.
Parish Mass – Sacrament of First Eucharist
This Sunday, at 9:30 Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Garran, we will celebrate with the candidates from our parish who have been preparing to receive their First Eucharist. In receiving their First Eucharist, they will experience a further unfolding of God’s presence, entering into the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
These children are making a commitment to participate in the life of Christ and we ask that you pray for them at this special time. We know that their Christian lives will be a sign of hope for others.
Dates for your Diary:
Thursday 13th June – Eucharist Retreat Day for all Year 4 students at Holy Trinity Parish centre.
Sunday 16th June – 9:30am Celebration of First Eucharist at Saints Peter and Paul, Garran.
Friday 28th June – 12:00pm Mass to celebrate Saints Peter and Paul Feast Day
Blessings for the week ahead,
Stephanie Burns
