Dear Parents,
Yesterday we celebrated the Feast of the Transfiguration with the staff and students of Holy Trinity Primary. The community spirit, reverence of the students throughout the mass and shared celebration were amazing. My thanks to everyone involved in its organisation, particularly our Religious Education Coordinator Mrs Stephanie Burns for her efforts and work leading up to the day.
With some rain forecast over the next week, let’s pray for a good drop of rain. Farmers right across the country are still battling incredibly harsh drought conditions. Let’s keep these people in our thoughts and prayers in the hope for some significant rain over the next few months.
Afternoon pick-up
Students are supervised and dismissed in this area from 3:10-3:30. Students are expected to be picked up no later than 3:30pm. I have noticed some students being picked up as late as 3:45, a time when many of our staff are in meetings, programming, marking work and preparing upcoming lessons. Please ensure that you are on time to collect your children.
Farewell for Margaret Pollard
Next Friday, 16 August we will be farewelling Mrs Margaret Pollard. All parents and carers are welcome to join school staff for afternoon tea from 1:10-1:50, followed by a special presentation in the school hall. An RSVP was sent out via Skoolbag to assist with gathering expected numbers for catering. If you plan on attending, please complete the RSVP by no later than Wednesday 14 August.
School renovation work
The tenders are still being reviewed in cooperation with Catholic Education and our school architect. As promised, we will endeavour to inform the community of any upcoming work in a timely manner.
Reminder - School Survey
An annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to inform school improvement. Responses are confidential, and individuals can not be identified.
The surveys will be sent using the email addresses supplied to the school. They opened on 29 July and will close on 9 August 2019 l. If you do not receive an email with a link to the survey, you can access and complete the survey at the following link:

Feast day of the Transfiguration of the Lord - A Celebration of 25 Years as a Parish!
On Tuesday we celebrated the Feast day of our Parish, the Parish of Transfiguration. It was a wonderful day spent with the other school in our parish, Holy Trinity. The students enjoyed the morning with a buddy class, engaging in activities centred around the theme of 25 years as one parish. Mass was celebrated at 12:00pm with many of our families and community members in attendance. We all enjoyed a piece of cake in the afternoon to commemorate this special occasion.
Thank you to the staff and students for making this a wonderfully joyful celebration; ‘Lord, it is wonderful for us to be here’ Mt 17:4
Sunday Gospel: Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year C
In the Gospel this week, we hear of the importance of being prepared. In the time of the first Christian communities, there was an expectation that Jesus would return to them very soon, even in their own lifetime, and that they must prepare for this. They certainly did not think that two thousand years would pass with Christians still waiting for Jesus’ return. Gradually, as time passed this imminent expectation of Jesus’ return declines. By the time Luke is writing this Gospel, the edge of this expectation has worn off. For Luke’s community it is fifty years since the Easter event and people are getting on with their day-to-day living. In this passage, Luke is keeping alive the prospect of Jesus’ imminent return. He could come any day now – will you be ready?
Dates for your Diary:
Thursday 8th August 2:15 – Feast of Mary MacKillop Prayer Celebration led by 3/4M
Thursday 15th August 12:00 - Feast of the Assumption Mass. (Year 1 will assist with this Mass)
Sunday 25th August 9:30am – Parish School Mass, Presentation of Candidates for Confirmation
Blessings for the week ahead,
Stephanie Burns
Religious Education Coordinator (Acting)
