Dear Parents and Carers
OSH News
At the end of 2024 school year, OSH are completing their tenure as before and after school care providers. I would like to thank Ellie and her team, for their service to the school and its families, and for providing valuable out-of-school care for the students of Sts Peter and Paul. OSH will continue until the end of the school year. From early January 2025, Sts Peter and Paul welcomes the care providers Community Services #1, who will provide before and after school care, as well as holiday care. Further details will be sent home in the near future.
2025 Intentions
Sts Peter and Paul are in the final stages of organising staffing for 2025. If you are aware that your child will not be at school next year, but have not yet informed the front office, I would ask please that you let the school know as soon as possible, for administration reasons. Thank you for your support.
Class Lists
Shortly, we will begin the process whereby students are asked to nominate 4 friends they would like to have with them in class next year. We will ask you to assist your child at home, in choosing his or her four friends. One of those friends is guaranteed by the school to be with your child next year. If you have any concerns around class placement for next year, I would ask that you email me directly at cameron.johns@cg.catholic.edu.au
Treasurer – Community Council
After 3 years of service as Treasurer, Pat Salter is stepping down from the role at the end of this year. Pat has done an excellent job and I would like to thank him for his service to the Council and the School. I would like to ask parents to consider volunteering for the role, for 2025 and beyond. If you would like to volunteer for the role of Treasurer, please email me directly on cameron.johns@cg.catholic.edu.au, or the Community Council at : scc.stpandp@gmail.com.
Staff Achievement
I am very pleased to announce that Tricia Drabsch, who is one of our amazing Classroom Support Assistants, has graduated from her Occupational Therapy degree. Furthermore, she has recieved the Occupational Therapy Australia Highest Achiever Award (Academic Excellence, Highest Grade Point Average) for 4th year graduating University of Canberra Occupational Therapy Student. This is by any measure an extraordinary achievement, and one that honours Tricia and her efforts. I congratulate Tricia and wish her all the very best as she puts her great talents and skills to the betterment of students everywhere.
Assembly Time
As per the Compass message I sent out yesterday, a reminder that Assembly times for the remainder of this term are at 2.30pm. They are still taking place on Thursdays.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes

Presence of God - Year 1 Mini-Retreat
Last week, our Year 1 students were lucky enough to participate in a Retreat Morning led by our Year 6 Youth Ministry team. My thanks to our Youth Minister Olivia Brown for coordinating our Youth Ministry Team to conduct the session, and to Natasha Kapantais and Maddi Mertz for supporting our Year 1 students.
Year 6 Market Day
Next Friday, 15 November, Year 6 will be hosting a “Market Day”. This is a day organised by the Year 6 students to consolidate their learning within their RE unit of work. This day is dedicated to living out the message of the Holy Spirit through fun activities organised by the students with the purpose of raising money and awareness for Catholic Mission Month. This is our second fundraising event for Catholic Mission.
On the day there will be a variety of activities that students from K-5 can participate in. To participate in these activities, we are asking that a donation be made via QKR! which will be exchanged for tickets on the day.
Gospel - Mark 12:28-34
33nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)
The widow's mite.
The willingness to give all that one has is the central theme of today's readings. They offer us three models.
Jesus is the ultimate example of heroic generosity. He first offered himself as expiation for our sin. Now, as the eternal high priest, he stands before God as our mediator, pleading on our behalf, bringing salvation to those who eagerly await him.
It is interesting to note that the other two models of selfless giving are widows, individuals who are doubly disadvantaged by the patriarchal societies of which they are members. Their generosity is religiously inspired, and it comes from women who had the least material possessions to give. This kind of giving requires that we reach deep into ourselves and almost strip ourselves of our hold on life, and that we do this for religious reasons. The giving that is pictured in today's readings is nothing less than heroic generosity.
God will not be outdone in generosity. Sometimes we become the beneficiaries of obvious blessing, as was the case in the story of the woman of Zarephath who was granted a year's supply of flour and oil. At other times, we simply continue living life as usual, like the woman in the temple who was unaware of the commendation that Jesus had given her. The truly generous do not look for reward. They carry out their responsibilities and place the rest in God's hands.

A WORD FROM OUR SCHOOL LEADERS
Year six have been busily working away, planning Market Day. This event will be held on Friday of Week 5, the 15th of November. Market Day, for those of you who don’t know, is a tradition where the Year Six students make market day stalls with fun games, prizes and yummy treats, all of which can be purchased. The proceeds for this fun event go to the Catholic Mission Month, 2024. We hope you are as excited as we are. To participate in these activities, we are asking that a donation be made via QKR! which will be exchanged for tickets on the day
So don’t forget, Friday of Week 5, come and have lots of fun!
Indie G (on behalf of the Year 6 students)
This week in the kitchen Mac and Cheese was on the menu and the dairy food group was researched in class.
We had loads of fun in the kitchen garden planting tomatoes and giving everything a much needed water. Next week we are planting seeds to eventually put into our garden.
Just a reminder that the kitchen stall will be open tomorrow before and after assembly. Gold coin donations welcome in exchange for some produce.
