Dear Parents and Carers,
School Disco
Last Friday we held our school disco for K – 6 students. It was a great event that ran very smoothly. My thanks to Katherine Jones and the Community Council for all of their hard work and organisation. I would also like to thank one of our fathers, Daniel Muller, for his generosity of spirit in providing the use of his sound equipment, lighting, and time for the disco.
Confirmation
It is a busy period of time for our Year 6 students, particularly our Confirmation candidates. On Friday, our Year 6 students have their Confirmation Retreat Day and next Tuesday, our candidates receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at 6pm. My thanks to our Year 6 teachers, Paul Jenkins, Katie McGregor and Nic Marsham; and to our REC, Andrea McQuirk, for all of their hard work. My thanks as well to all of our parents who volunteered their time as Home Group leaders. Most of all, I would like to congratulate our Confirmation candidates for taking this step in faith.
Parent Teacher Interviews and Reports
A reminder that next week, over three days, we have our Semester 1 Parent/Teacher interviews. Please book a time through the link that was sent out via Compass. My thanks to our Assistant Principal, Samantha Mance, for her work in coordinating the interviews, and to all teachers, for their availability and preparation for the interviews. Reports are in the concluding preparation stages and the teachers are calibrating final assessment pieces and assigning grades to students. Reports will be published via Compass on Monday June 30th.
Working Bee
A reminder that this Sunday, June 22nd, 10am – 12pm, we are holding a Working Bee at the school. All parents are invited to attend and contribute a little time and energy to the beautification of the school grounds. It is also a great opportunity to make new connections with other parents and deepen connections within existing relationships. It will also get your step count up! My thanks to the Community Council for organising the Working Bee.
Sts Peter and Paul Feast Day
Friday June 27th in Week 9, sees the school celebrate our feast day. The school’s normal routines will be altered for the day, and all classes will be involved in special activities throughout the day. We are celebrating a whole school Mass at 12pm in the school hall. All parents are invited to attend the Mass on the day.
Term 1 Last Day
A reminder that the last day of Term 1 for all students in a Catholic systemic school is Thursday, July 3rd. Friday the 4th is a PL and planning day for staff. The first day of Term 2 for students is Tuesday, July 22nd.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
Principal
Feast Day

All families are warmly invited to join us for our Feast Day Mass at 12pm in the Sts Peter and Paul School Hall.

Support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
Today we celebrated Wednesday Winter Woolies—the children wore their coziest winter clothes and brought warm items to donate.
Thank you for supporting St Vincent de Paul to keep the people of Canberra warm and safe this winter.
Next Friday morning (Week 9) at 8:30am, we’ll be selling hot chocolate from the canteen to help raise funds for St Vincent de Paul, supporting our winter appeal. For a gold coin donation, your child can enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate before school. Thank you for helping us support those in need this winter!
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Solemnity - Luke 9:11-17
It was probably only about twenty years after the Last Supper that Paul, writing to correct some errors in the Corinthian community, gives us the precious gem of our tradition, namely the earliest account of what Jesus said and did at that final meal with his disciples. It reminds us always of the heart and core of what we do when we celebrate the Eucharist, and the very foundation and reason for subsequent devotional practices such as those associated with today’s feast. We must never forget those words: ‘Do this as a memorial of me’ and their implications for our Christian life.
Likewise, the setting for the story of the feeding of the crowds in each of the Gospels is important. Jesus’ care for the physical needs of the people who follow him is a response to the deep feeling he has about their spiritual hunger. The narrative, so familiar to us, has obvious similarities with the words we hear in the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Jesus’ dialogue and instructions to his disciples are equally significant. Like them, we are called to feed the hungry, both with bodily nourishment and the Word of Life. In other words, as we celebrate this great gift today, may we ourselves be bread for others.

Hello,
We have been busy bees in the kitchen and garden over the last few weeks.
Kinder and Year 1 have been cooking up a storm in the kitchen and learning many new life skills. The children have been mixing, stirring, waiting their turn and being fair team members.
In the garden we have been very busy weeding, planting and getting our garden beds ready for some winter plants. The children have been fabulous and very enthusiastic. We have harvested tomatoes, potatoes and zucchini.
Tomorrow before assembly tomorrow we will be having a stall in the foyer, and for a donation we will have some produce for sale. All proceeds go towards buying mulch and seedlings for the garden.
If you have any questions, please email me katherine.birch@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Garden Club is on every Friday at lunch after eating time.
Thanks,
Katie
