Dear Parents,
Please see attached a communication that was emailed to parents yesterday regarding an incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. If you did not receive this via email Yesterday (7/5), please contact the office to update or check your contact details.
While this incident is certainly concerning, it provides a timely reminder that we need to revisit personal safety strategies regularly with our children. The best messages are those that are reinforced through a home/school partnership. I encourage you to discuss the strategies outlined on the Constable Kenny Koala website with your children.
ACT Policing have responded to a report of a vehicle following one of our students riding home from school yesterday afternoon, 6 May 2019. The child is safe and well and support is being offered to the child and family.
We are in liaison with ACT Policing and meeting with staff to discuss child safety at St Peter and Paul. Police are encouraging parents, guardians and teachers to ensure children understand how to keep themselves safe, particularly when walking or riding to and from school, and to discuss stranger safety with children.
Information on ways to help children to stay safe is available on the Constable Kenny Koala website.
You are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activity to ACT Policing Operations immediately following an incident on 131 444. If it is a life-threatening situation, please phone 000. The sooner an incident is reported, the quicker police can respond and attend to target the area and the surrounds.
If a child approach occurs on the weekend or outside of school hours, parents are asked to contact police immediately.
HOW TO REPORT
If a child alerts you to an approach that has just happened, parents, guardians or teachers are asked to contact police immediately on 131 444 and in a life-threatening situation phone 000 immediately. The sooner the police are notified the sooner they can attend.
Please call me if you have any concerns or wish to speak with me about the matter.

Sunday Gospel: John 10:27-30
This Sunday is often referred to as Good Shepherd Sunday. In this week’s Gospel we are given the image of Jesus as a Good Shepherd who knows his flock and gives them eternal life. The depiction of Jesus as the Good Shepherd points to the relationship Jesus has with those who follow him, as well as the relationship he has with God. The image of Jesus as shepherd implies a familiar knowledge on the part of both Jesus and his followers and wholehearted trust on the part of the followers. In this Gospel, Jesus promises that he will give eternal life to his sheep, and that he will not allow anyone to take them away from him. We, as his followers, know that he can promise eternal life because at Easter we were reminded that he has power over death.
