Dear Parents and Carers
Last Friday, we participated in the Boorowa Touch Football and Netball competition. It was the first time in 4 years that we were able to do so, as COVID had disrupted previous years, and it was rained out last year. All children and sporting teams had a wonderful time. I would like to congratulate the children who participated, as I have only heard good reports. The children who traveled on the bus to Boorowa, for example, were reported by the bus driver to be exemplary in their manners and behaviour. Congratulations to all involved, and my thanks to the many parents who traveled and supported the students, in a variety of ways. My thanks as well, to Veronica Hall, Cathy Shepherd, Bridget Pigram, Luke Gubler and Sarah Walsh, for organising our involvement, and for supervising our students.
School Disco
This Friday night, the Community Council has organised our final disco for the year. K – 2 students are from 6pm – 6.45pm; Grades 3 – 6 are from 7.00pm – 7.45pm. As always, our music is provided by Jungle Jerry, to whom I am very grateful and appreciative. Thank you. Parents are required to supervise their children on the night, as staff supervision will be minimal.
Andrew Fuller
A reminder that renowned child psychologist is speaking at Sts Peter and Paul, on Tuesday, November 14, at 6pm. He is speaking on child and adolescent wellbeing and resilience. Andrew is excellent and well worth listening to, and I encourage all parents to come along, if possible. This event is organised by the Community Council and again, my thanks to the CC members for coordinating Andrew’s visit. Tickets are available by clickinkg on the link below and they are selling fast.

Catholic Education System Leaders’ Days
On Thursday and Friday this week, I am away from school, and attending the system leaders’ days. This will include Mass with the Archbishop on Friday morning. In my absence, the school will be very capably led by Amanda Basedow, our excellent Acting Assistant Principal.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes

Social Justice - Catholic Mission
This year, we supported Catholic Mission with three special fundraising events; Year 6 Mission Markets, Zoe and Olive’s Bake Stall and Socktober. All together we raised $1,980.20! Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international mission agency. Catholic Mission, together with the community, shares in God’s mission to reach out, giving life by sharing our personal and financial resources to:
- proclaim the Gospel
- serve people in need and
- act for peace, justice and creation.
Thank you to everyone for supporting the work of Catholic Mission around the world..
Sunday Gospel: Matthew 22:34-40, 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A
You shall love the Lord your God and your neighbour as yourself.
Gospel Reflection by Dianne Bergant
The Catholic tradition is founded on love. Actually, life itself is grounded in love. We may not always feel this love, but if we allow ourselves to reflect on life, we will realise this truth. We have been called into being by God’s love; and we will only be happy if we live in that love. Thus, when we are directed to love God and love one another, we are not being asked to do something contrary to our nature. Rather, we are being told to live in accord with that nature. We come from God who is love, and so it is in our very nature to love and to be loved.
We may sometimes think that it is easier to love God than to love others. It may actually be just the opposite. Other people are tangible. We can see and hear them, interact with them. Their influence in our lives can permeate our consciousness. That is not the way it is with God. Like Moses on the mountain, we can only see the traces of divinity as God passes by. However, we show that we love God in the way we love our neighbour.
Love, the foundation of the reign of God, is contagious. When we love others, the reign of God spreads throughout the world. The compassion that we show toward others is a form of evangelisation. It proclaims much louder than any words that the reign of God has been established.
Blessings for the week ahead,
Veronica Hall

Boorowa Touch Football/Netball Carnival
What an exceptional day our students had at Boorowa last Friday! It was wonderful to see such outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by all of our teams in both Netball and Touch Football. It was the first time our students from Years 2-5 were able to attend this event and all students enjoyed the day thoroughly! A huge thank you to the many parents, carers and past students who attended to support our students and those who volunteered their time to work with a team on the day. We would not have been able to do it without you! My thanks in particular to Mr Luke Gubler and Mrs Veronica Hall who accompanied the students on the bus, and to Miss Bridget Pigram and Mrs Cathy Shepherd who also attended to support our students.
If you ever have any questions about anything related to Sport, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Luke Gubler (luke.gubler@cg.catholic.edu.au) and Sarah Walsh (sarah.walsh1@cg.catholic.edu.au) and hopefully we will be able to help you out!
Years 5 and 6 are having a great time in the kitchen refreshing their skills and learning new ones. They have made sticky date cupcakes among other yummy delights.
In Garden Club we cleaned up the strawberries who were having a fight with some very happy weeds! We also discovered some very happy and large beans. We also needed to put our net over our fruit trees as they are starting to produce too. Our garden is doing well.
Looking forward to seeing some garden club children this Friday at lunch for some more fun.
