Dear Parents and Carers,
“If you do make this your policy, you might remember where God started loving in you. It wasn’t in that you were brilliant, beautiful or the best thing since sliced bread, but that you were someone in need. If you don’t, one way or another, in the next twenty-four hours, identify someone in need of your loving contribution, the chances are you are not listening as hard as you might be to the God who makes a home in you, every day.”
- Peter Steele SJ, ‘The Mind’s Guests’
The late Peter Steele, a frequent friend to this newsletter, writes in the above quote of God’s unconditional response to our needs. We are all people who are ‘in need.’ Physical, mental or perhaps emotional ailments bring this home to us, as do moments of great loss or bereavement: on those occasions, there is no hiding from the fact that our needs are just below the surface of our lives. Steele reminds us that God loves us, simply because there is a need in us all. He asks us to do the same for others.
Regional Cross Country Competition
Yesterday, a number of our students competed in the regional Cross Country Carnival. After a cloudy and chilly start, the weather rose to the occasion and all children competed to the best of their ability. My thanks to Luke Gubler and Cathy Shepherd who coordinated the regional carnival for all schools in our local area; and to Maddi Mertz, Robyn Moore and Bridget Pigram, who accompanied our students to the carnival and helped to look after them on the day.
Confirmation Stole Night
A reminder that this Thursday evening, our Confirmation candidates gather together in the hall at Holy Trinity, Curtin, with Holy Trinity’s Confirmation candidates. The students, with their parents, will be making their Stoles, which they will be wearing on the evening they are Confirmed, in week 9. It is another step the children are taking on their preparation for Confirmation. My thanks to Andrea McQuirk, Katie McGregor, Paul Jenkins, Nic Marsham and all parents, for their support of the children.
Year 4 Camp
Year 4 Camp Next week will see our Year 4 children go on camp to Birrigai, for one night. Birrigai offers students many varied and exciting opportunities and will be a great experince for all the students. My thanks to all of our Year 4 teachers for making this happen.

The disco will be in two parts, with our K – 2 students attending from 5.45pm – 6.30pm, and our Grades 3 – 6 students attending from 6.50pm – 8.20pm. Support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
As the winter chill sets in, let's come together to help those in need. On Wednesday Week 8, 18th June, join us for Wednesday Winter Woolies—wear your coziest winter clothes and bring a warm item to donate. Coats, scarves, gloves, blankets, and jumpers are all welcome! If you’re unable to bring a donation, a financial contribution will be just as appreciated.
Let’s make a difference—every small act of kindness keeps someone warm this winter.
Pentecost Sunday Solemnity - John 14:15-16, 23-26
This is the day when the first followers of Jesus were empowered to throw off their hesitation and fear and speak boldly and openly about the marvels of God, made manifest in the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus had promised this - an Advocate who would stand by them and for them, teach them and remind them of him. The powerful imagery of their experience of this carries with it the sense that they have no control over what is happening.
We, at various levels, are tempted to want to harness or categorise the Spirit of Jesus. Is this what Paul means by ‘unspiritual lives’? His somewhat confusing use of the word to interchange meanings, from ‘Spirit of God’, ‘Spirit of Christ’ ‘your spirit’ is his way of expressing the intimate union in which we share. As we say in the Creed, the Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son is Lord and giver of life. May his Spirit live in us, in our families, our communities and our Church and continually challenge us as we journey together on the way to the fulfillment of the Kingdom.

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR
School-Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB)
At Saints Peter and Paul our students are supported by a School- Wide Positive Behaviour framework that was developed by our school community to develop a positive, safe, and supportive learning culture.
The framework improves the social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for our students.
Our three expectations, Succeeding Together Safely underpin everything we do here at Sts Peter and Paul Primary School.
Our goal for Weeks 5 and 6 is
Caring for Your Space
Take Care of Things: Keep your classroom clean and look after your stuff.
Microskill- Check with your teacher where the specific place for each item is in your classroom.
Such as a drawer for books, a pencil case for writing tools, and a folder for schoolwork.
