THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B
Gospel- Mark 5:21-43- Young girl, I say to you, arise.
In the gospel, Jesus reaches deep into the world beyond life and rescues a young girl from the jaws of death. Earlier, he was jostled by the crowd and felt healing power leave him in order to restore an afflicted woman. Repeating the words of last week’s gospel: Who is this man? Is this someone with whom we want to become involved? On the other hand, can we afford not to get involved with him? This is a man who can lead us to life even in the midst of death. He is someone who is interested in the well-being of everyone, even those who may not be highly valued by society – women and children, the chronically ill, those who carry the seeds of death within them.
God's graciousness toward us should prompt us to be generous toward others. What we receive as life-enhancing gifts, we must share with those in need, those to whom life has not been kind. As we have been favoured by the healing touch of God, so we must extend that same loving touch to others. The love of Christ impels us to be openhanded as we approach those in need. Following Jesus' lead, we must not only give to them, we must also allow them to take from us. At times this will require that we share material resources; at other times it might mean that our energy will be drained in our service of them. In all of this, Jesus has set the example for us to follow.

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS
At Sts Peter and Paul, we are all SainTS - Succeeding Together Safely. This term we are unpacking our behaviour expectation of Succeeding.
Succeeding means trying your best, having courage, and embracing challenges.
SWPB Fortnight Focus Weeks 9-10
Take A Risk
Our focus for the next fortnight is - Take a Risk. Through our School Wide Positive Behaviours Program we are continuing to encourage and acknowledge respectful and safe behaviours that promote a positive and safe learning environment for all. Our Year 1 students are trying something new and sticking with this activity before giving up. Our Year 3 students are picking activities that they wouldn’t usually do and stepping outside their comfort zones. Our students, when taking risks, are creating new opportunities for themselves which in turn enables growth.
Please take note of your child or children’s library days. Kinder- Year 4 must have a Library Bag to borrow books to take home.

A WORD FROM OUR SCHOOL LEADERS
Treetops was a fantastic experience. It helped us push through and gather new skills to help us as leaders of the school. The majority of us were super excited others a little nervous but still ended up being a wonderful experience for us all. At the start of my time on the first course I was excited, but after looking at the height of the obstacles my nerves began kicking in. When I was up in the treetops it was very nerve racking but luckily my friends were there to keep my confidence up and help me persevere through all the obstacles and even try some harder and higher obstacles. In the time that we had there some of thing that help me throughout treetops was positive self talk, help from my friends and zip lining which boosted my confidence.

Year 6
At my time at Treetops I faced many challenges but this is the story how l pushed through. As we all got off the bus l could feel my face light up with joy. As soon as we lined up for all the obstacles I felt a pit in my gut. I was the first one in line and I wanted to convince my friends that if l could do it that they could do it, so I went on, my legs shaking as I stepped forward. The obstacle wobbled but I kept going. It got the easier the further I went in but my heart skipped a beat as I slipped. As fast as I could I grabbed the rope. As I went on I felt better until I saw the tightrope. I got on it, my legs shaking, but I had confidence and so I got to the other side. Then I went on a zip line. I love zip lines and when l say I love them I mean I really love them. After I finished I went up a level. This one was hard and I fell but I got up then fell again. This time I was too stuck to get back up so I got lowered down. Then I went on an easy one but I fell and I felt like I couldn’t get back up but my friends and my teacher helped me up so I helped my friends get through a really tough obstacle. At the end of the day it didn’t matter if we fell it only mattered if we got back up and had fun.

Year 6
The tree tops experience for me was 3 words - fun, amazing and definitely terrifying.
The funniest thing I looked on is actually the scariest thing I did. I look back and think what I could have done to make it less scary but while it was terrifying it was very funny. My friend and I had tears in our eyes! That's when I noticed that crying made it feel different almost like a weight had lifted off my shoulders. Showing emotion is not weakness it’s actually a strength because being able to show emotion is strong and it means you don’t care what others think. So that’s why my treetop was not just fun and scary but brought out leadership, working together and most importantly just to have fun!

Year 6
Year 4 camp at Warrumbui
Year 4 camp was exciting because this was the first time Year 4 ever got to go on camp. The activities we did were bushwalking, bush art, frisbee golf, initiatives games, puzzle mania and an obstacle course. Frisbee golf was really fun. We had to throw a frisbee into a bucket and you had to try to get it in a certain amount of throws.
The food we ate at camp was delicious. We had fruit and banana bread for morning tea and fish and chips with salad for lunch and for dinner we had chicken curry. The coaches were very kind to us and we had lots of fun.
By Kolbe Tantri and Abhi Wong 4W
I thought the Year 4 camp was amazing and fun. The dorms, the activities and just the fact that you're with friends!
I'm going to start with the dorms. At Warrambui, the dorms were gorgeous. There were five beds, one single bed and four bunk beds. We had four or five people in each dorm, we had at least one of our friends and if you had a good friend in a different dorm, you got to see them a lot in the activities.
Secondly - activities - the activities were undescribably fun! We did bushwalking, art, frisbee golf, initiatives, free time, movie night, an obstacle course and puzzle mania. My favourite activities were puzzle mania and the obstacle course. but on the movie night I also enjoyed 'A Bug's Life'.
Cormac B, 4M
I thought Year 4 camp was amazing! Some of my favourite things were frisbee golf, bush walking, puzzle mania and the obstacle course. The place where we were staying (the Dome) was big and gave us lots of space when we had spare time. We didn't have much spare time because we had so many activities, we only had a few minutes between activities. The place we went to was Warrumbui. There was another school coming just as we were on our last activity, but they were going to the Village.
The food there was amazing and the experience and just being with your friends was great. I think it helped to make stronger friendships with everyone and get to know them better. The dorms were smallish but there was enough space for each of us to have a separate bunk.
We did a bush walk, bush art, initiatives and frisbee golf. We had free time, dinner and then a movie night and watched 'A Bug's Life'. In the morning we had breakfast, free time, an obstacle course and puzzle mania. We then went back to school on a bus.
I think it was great and it will prepare me for Year 5 and Year 6 camp. That's what I thought of camp - amazing! Thank you for reading my report about camping. I recommend going, it was so fun.

KITCHEN AND CANTEEN 'STOCK UP' DRIVE
Kitchen and Canteen “Stock Up” Drive
To help stock our pantries up for 2024, we are having a “Stock Up” Drive in Week 1 Term 3 on Thursday 25 July.
We are asking students to come to school wearing casual clothes, (not school uniform) but in return they must bring an item to stock our pantries.
Each class will be asked to bring in a different item and there will be prizes for the class that has highest percentage participation.
There will be a box in each the classroom to place the items in.
We understand the cost-of-living crisis we are currently in, and we are not asking for expensive or branded items, generic brands are most welcomed! Not all students from a family need to bring in items to be able to wear casual clothes, as long as one of the children brings in an item for their class.
The issue will be deciding which class wants the prize more!
Your class items are listed below.
KW - brown rice
KM – brown rice
1W - sugar
1M - foil
2M - Baking Paper (not greaseproof paper)
2W - Baking Paper (not greaseproof paper)
3M - Self Raising Flour (white or wholemeal)
